CALIFORNIA GOLF COURSE OWNERS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS ANCIL HOFFMAN GOLF COURSE WITH COMMUNITY ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD

The California Golf Course Owners Association (CGCOA) announced that Ancil Hoffman Golf
Course in Sacramento was the winner of the 2020 CGCOA Community Environmental Award.
CGCOA presents the award to a facility or management company demonstrating excellence in
environmental stewardship.

“CGCOA appreciates the leadership and commitment to health, safety and the environment that
the staff at Ancil Hoffman and golf management company CourseCo have demonstrated during
this very challenging period,” said CGCOA Executive Director Marc Connerly. “We are very
pleased to recognize them with this well-deserved honor, and are proud of the role they serve
within the Sacramento community and the statewide golf industry.”

CGCOA’s criteria for the award includes preserving coveted resources such as water and
electricity, implementing environmentally smart programs, maintaining a recycling program
throughout the property, creating safe, natural habitats for birds and other animals that occupy
the course, and increasing citizen awareness of the role played by golf courses as friends of the
environment. For this year’s award, leadership and activities related to responsible management
of the pandemic were added to the award criteria.

Ancil Hoffman Golf Course has remained open during the pandemic and set the standard for
maintaining safe and healthy playing conditions. Despite golf courses being under constant
scrutiny from government, the media and the public, Ancil Hoffman Golf Course went above and
beyond to stay in compliance, including development of a 21-point COVID safety checklist very
early in the pandemic, well before many of the restrictions on the checklist were mandated by
government officials. The response from locals and others has been phenomenal.

The California Golf Course Owners Association (CGCOA) represents nearly 900 golf courses in
California, which are responsible for the employment of more than 128,000 California citizens,
with wages in excess of $4 billion and a statewide economic impact exceeding $13 billion. The
CGCOA is dedicated to developing strategic partnerships and strategies to help golf course
owners and operators provide thriving recreational facilities for their local communities.
